INTRO
An Egyptian Canadian filmmaker, who initially set out to become a software engineer before jumping ship and eventually crash-landing in a creative field.

Originally from Cairo and now based in Vancouver, BC, where my diverse and multicultural background has helped me develop a sense of not-belonging anywhere and a cynical optimism that lends itself to my work as well.
THE WORK
As a cinematographer / director, I have worked on sets across the MENA region, Europe and Canada shooting Film, TV, Documentary, Commercials and Music Videos. Coming from an art & design background with a cultivated visual approach to storytelling, cinematography naturally became my main bread & butter. I worked for some of the biggest production houses in the MENA region for clients like Coca-Cola, Vodafone, MBC & Vice Arabia.

My narrative / non-commercial work has seen recognition in several festivals and platforms around the globe.

More on that here.
International Film Festival Rotterdam / African Film Festival Hamburg / Capalbio International Film Festival
for the short film Adam.
Sharjah Film Platform / Masr Dot Bokra Film Festival
for the short film See More Glass.
Agadir International Documentary Festival / Cairo International Film Festival
for the documentary Searching for Ghazala.
I worked in MoCap and Virtual Productions at Beyond Capture Studios capturing performances for game developers like Capcom, Gearbbox, WB & EA. More on that here.

When I'm not filming or waiting in transit between Vancouver & Cairo, I'm making posters or illustrating. Some are available in print for purchase at Cairopolitan and some are featured in 100 Best Arabic Posters, Cairo: Images of Transition, The Cairo Review of Global Affairs.
